Hair growth

Going to post a pic every month to keep track of it. My ultimate goal is to have it tailbone length. I’ve been taking a really good care of it since the beginning of 2012 and it shows, my hair is healthier than it has ever been before.

A list of things I do to keep it healthy and growing:

  • No heat. That means no blow drying or any kind of curlers/straighteners (there are alternative ways to achieve the same results without any damage to the hair);
  • trying to wash it every other day;
  • always let it air dry;
  • after washing my hair I gently pat it with a towel to get the extra water out;
  • using conditioner as often as i can and leaving it in for about 20 minutes;
  • combing hair gently using a wide tooth comb starting from the endings;
  • not combing hair when it’s wet. Wet hair is elastic and is more breakage prone;
  • oil masks once a week or once a month, depending on how busy I am;
  • only use metal-piece free hair ties;
  • not using any hair pins, they tend to rip the hair and cause breakage;
  • no trims. It’s only a myth by hairdressers to trim in once a month. Hair approximately grows at a rate of 1.25cm a month and usually when you get a trim they cut off all the growth you achieved. The only reason to cut off split ends is to prevent the hair splitting up to the root but that’s not going to happen if you treat your hair gently. Even years back when I damaged my hair in every way possible the split ends weren’t that bad nor did they ever split up high;
  • Omega3;
  • No hair dying/coloring. That used to turn my hair to a dry hay without any shine.

The most important thing about growing your hair out is to follow those tips and just forget about hair.

    Amazing length. I recently chopped from nearly waist to arm pit length (heat and dye damage). Wanted to start with fresh ends and grow down to tailbone.
